![]() Excludes LUBRICATING OIL, COLLOIDAL GRAPHITE LUBRICATING OIL, MOLYBDENUM DISULFIDE GRAPHITE, COLLOIDAL and GREASE, GRAPHITE. May also be used to minimize fretting corrosion. Limited to those parts that will not require reapplication of the film during the normal life of the part except where the material will be used for break-in purposes in conjunction with other approved oils and greases. The downside is that it's more expensive and it needs to cure in the oven and my wife wasn't wild about me baking chemicals in our kitchen.9150-0 A dispersion of finely powdered lubricating solids in a suitable binder intended for bonding on surfaces of parts in aircraft, missiles, automotive and industrial equipment, and other applications where temperature, inacessability, contamination, etc., render conventional lubricants unsatisfactory or impractical. The stuff I used gave it a really nice dark grey-green finish, plus it saves you from taping. What I liked even better than paint though was a dry Moly finish. I also tossed a clear coat on after on the painted ones. I used the Krylon camo series and as long as you apply evenly after good prep work and let it set after each coat, it turned out pretty well. Once you get that good bottom line, I quickly wrapped everything above it with cheaper tape and pressed it down hard. This was especially helpful for the grooves of the magazine. I found that what worked best for me was to use a few strips carefully applied at the bottom of the no-paint-zone, pressing the edges in with the rim of a casing. Everything above that line was taped with painter's tape. I put each magazine in the lower and marked off the magazine well with pencil. Tape off everything you don't want painted. Let them dry, throw on gloves, and spray and wipe the bodies down with isopropyl alcohol. I had a few really grimy ones that got some abrasive scrubber love too. Grab an old toothbrush and scrub the inside and outside. They do make aluminum safe SG but didn't have it at my Lowe's. I was under the impression that standard SG is hard on aluminum but 1) it's diluted and 2) it's a quick scrub, not a soak. Wash the mag body, floor plate, and spring in a diluted Simple Green solution. Toss the old followers in a bag (what am I going to do with 100 black followers when I'm done? I don't know.). Your springs should be fine (I pulled springs that were 30 years old in some cases that still looked and measured great) but go over those too and make sure they aren't damaged, corroded, or overly short. Check that the floor plate seats well and inspect the lips for cracks, burrs, bends, etc. Check whether or not the magazine drops free from the lower(s) you plan to use. This won't tell you definitively that the feed lips aren't bent but it'll at least give you a data point. Load the magazine to 30, make sure it actually loads all the way and you aren't missing a dent in the body or something. You can make all the difference in someone's life.
